Dorothée Wycart

The De Venir is the driving force of my multidisciplinary artistic research, I am a visual artist.

Since my childhood, I have been passionate about art and have studied it at the Saint-Luc Institute of Tournai in Belgium and then at the Ecole Supérieure d’Art du Nord de la France using various means of expression such as painting, drawing, photography, video, silk-screen printing, engraving, writing and ceramics.

I work essentially on the theme of the body and on great figures, essentially feminine.

As a guide and teacher in visual arts for ten years at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille, drawing and painting were my first mediums, but I found a real means of expression in photography.

My work on the body seeks to get closer to the essence of things; the body in its openness where the human, the vegetable, the mineral and the animal are united by the vital energy.

The body as a place of exchange and metamorphosis.

The radiation as ramification structures my compositions.

My work questions the relationship of man to nature and the cosmos. In my works, I create biomorphic forms evoking human or animal organs, roots, molecules, marine beings, etc.

These are my mental landscapes, unreal, dreamlike, fluid, aerial and soaked.

In perpetual back and forth between painting and photography.

My images are constructed like paintings stopping the moment in order to reach a visual texture and plunge the spectator in a feeling of uncertainty in front of the real, I question the relation to the universe through the body and raise one of the major stakes of our civilization in crisis to rethink the human being in synergy with the earth.

The human being, no longer apprehended as an entity, but fragmented, evolves from now on in a nature where the borders between the species become permeable.

These forms expose the similarity of the organs which suggests a movement of a form in another, between the small body and the large one.

My current research is based on mythological characters whose aim is to magnify the being.

I defend the rights of the child, the woman, the man, the animal… Of the living, of the universal.

It is necessary to be vigilant, more than ever.

Involved in contemporary creation as much on a professional level as through my work as a visual artist, guide to all audiences initially at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille as well as the Museum of Ixelles and other museums, I am very active in the socio-artistic sector, I regularly intervene in various cultural institutions.
