The rhetoric of silence
First the body. Sometimes the place. Or rather both. The shifts operated by Dorothée Wycart evoke how much to be is to perceive, to be perceived. But not totally. The photographs make lean lower the head, freeze a leg for a long time. Remain nevertheless the certainty of the uncertainty, the vacancy of the vacancy. The body gushes out in flows, in mirages. Between the day and the night. The chiaroscuro creates the disorder, contradicts the always factitious evidence: the « truth » of body possesses a part of unavowable imperceptible.
The same becomes the double. Cherished by penumbra, it is the wanderer of the classy shade. This one advances with the dreamy insomniac. The photograph takes her out of the immobility of the statues in a pure spectacle where the image sinks in harmonics in a rhetoric of silence
The backgrounds are indeterminate by the black and white. It is time to penetrate secret domains where the body becomes the delicate wick in the middle of the primary elements. Nothing is missing but everything is absence, suggestion. The body feeling itself crumbling of delights crawls, emerges subtly. Gushes, disappears until exhaustion: neither the possible, nor the impossible are still safeguards. All is established in boiling. The hollow where everything begins in a clarity that leads astray but where the shadow reduces the words to silence is experienced.
